The Far Eastern Transport Office of the Investigative Committee has finished the investigation against the captain of a Mil Mi-8T helicopter that crashed in Chaunsky District, Chukchi Autonomous Area. He is charged with a crime under Part 3 of Article 263 of the RF Penal Code (violation of safety standards for traffic and operation of an aircraft, entailing death of two or more people and grievous bodily harm).

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Transbaikalian Territory Office of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict 37-year-old Aleksei Pyannikov and 26-year-old Oleg Antsyferov. The latter was found guilty of a robbery-related murder committed in collision (Part 4, item “c” of Article 162, Part 2, items “g” and “h” of Article 105 of the RF penal Code) and Pyannikov of a robbery related murder and rape  of two people committed in order to conceal another crime (Part 4, item “c” of Article 162, Part 2, item “b” of Article 131, Part 2, items “a”, “g”, “h” and “j” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code).

On 7 November 2016, cadets of the Investigative Committee’s Siberian Cadet School based in the city of Novosibirsk took the oath in the presence of Investigative Committee Vice Chairman Ilya Lazutov, as well as the Head of the 5th department of the Committee’s Head Office also based in Novosibirsk, General Director of the Siberian Cadet School, heads of investigative offices in Russian regions that are part of Siberian Federal District and guests of honor: the Presidential Plenipotentiary in Siberian Federal District, Governor of Novosibirsk Region, Vice-Mayor of Novosibirsk and cadets’ parents.

The forensic service marks its birthday on 19 October. First positions of forensic prosecutors were instituted on that day in 1954 by the order of the USSR Prosecutor’s General Office. When the Investigative Committee was set up the forensic service became part of it. At present the Investigative Committee continues actively developing the forensic science system. And this only reasonable as forensic investigators improve the quality of probe, help to solve many crimes and bring the guilty ones to justice.
