In Altai Territory, prove launched in providing unsafe services by carriers resulted in injuring people in two-bus accident

The Altai Territory Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in the provision of services that do not meet safety standards and entailed grievous bodily harm and death of two or more people under Part 3 of Article 238 of the RF penal Code after a traffic accident that injured passengers of two buses.

According to investigators, on the evening of 4 January 2017, driver of a Higer KLQ6826Q coach en route Biysk – Novosibirsk – Biysk did not take into consideration the weather and road conditions and drove to the wrong side of the road at kilometer mark 235 of R256 Chuisky trakt near the settlement of Ukrainsky, Kosikha District, Altai Territory. He then collided with a LAZ 695 N bus.

The crash killed 3 people and injured 29 passengers, 15 of whom were taken to hospitals.

By now both vehicles have been examined, documents relevant for the investigation have been seized, the injured and witnesses are being interviewed. The investigators are going to assess the safety of the services provided. The investigation is ongoing.
