In Moscow Region, anesthesiologist to stand trial for causing death by negligence due to malpractice

The Moscow Region Office of the Investigative Committee has finished criminal proceedings against a 53-year-old anesthesiologist and resuscitation specialist of Shatura Central District Hospital charged with causing death to a patient due to professional malpractice under part 2 of Article 109 of the RF Penal Code.

According to investigators, on 3 January 2015, the accused was called by obstetricians of the hospital’s maternity department for administering narcosis during a cesarean section. The accused failed to intubate the patient properly which led to her death.

The investigators did a lot of work to find out the circumstances surrounding the crime. They seized and studied medical and other documents, ran complex forensic inquiries.

The investigators have enough evidence so the criminal case with the signed indictment has been referred to court.
