In Dagestan, probe launched in food poisoning of school students

The Dagestan Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in unsafe services under Part 1 of Article 238 of the RF Penal Code.

According to investigators, on 16 March 2017, between 5 and 8 PM, 19 students of a school aged between 7 and 11 were delivered to the Buinaksk Central Town Hospital. According to the patients and their families, the children had started to show food poisoning symptoms at the end of a school day during which they had eaten in the school cafeteria.

The investigators have examined the school kitchen, confiscated some dishes, buckwheat and chicken. They also confiscated documents regulating school meals: a food supply contract, food order forms, kitchen workers’ job descriptions, a raw food quality control journal, an approximate menu of hot meals for 1-4th grades in 2017-2018.

At present, investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the incident and steps are being taken to identify guilty officials. The investigation is ongoing.
