The Chancellor of a Far Eastern university is suspected of corruption
A criminal investigation has been opened against the Chancellor of the Far Eastern Federal University Sergei Ivanets, the Investigative Committee reported yesterday. A case was initiated against school security guards in Nakhodka
For the first time the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched a criminal case over negligence against non-departmental security guards who are responsible for children’s safety in school N8 in the town of Nakhodka.
The Head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin came to the crash site right after he arrived in Rostov-on-Don yesterday. The freezing wind and snow couldn’t hide the distorted runway. The runway and all the nearby airport area has been divided into sectors where investigators were literally kneeling to collect the smallest fragments of the airplane for two days. Initially the case was launched by the Rostov-on-Don Seventh Department of the Central Directorate of the Committee. The St. Petersburg City Court has passed the sentence on the case of a member of military operations in the North Caucasus, the nationalist Andrei Malyugin (the Fighter) accused of a number of grave crimes. In the end the accused was found guilty of two murders, an attack on a police officer, theft and fraud for which he got 18 years in a maximum-security penal colony. The court dismissed charges of preparation to a terrorist attack and encroachment on the federal judge Vadim Shidlovsky admitting the right of the Fighter to rehabilitation.
In the Altai Territory, the court has arrested for two months the former vice-governor Yuri Denisov and his wife Tatyana detained for a case of bribery. The defenders asked for a house arrest for their clients, but were denied. The Head of the Territory Aleksandr Karlin said that he was personally interested in quick and impartial investigation into this case and expected the investigators “to find out the reasons and conditions that had caused the crime.”
