Probe launched in Kamchatka Territory in Mi-8T hard landing

The investigating bodies of the Far Eastern Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal investigation in a crime under part 2 of article 263 of the RF Penal Code (violation of safety standards for traffic and operation of an aircraft entailing death of a person) following a hard landing of a Mi-8T helicopter in Kamchatka Territory.

According to investigators, on 16 December 2015, at 2:10 PM, local time, a helicopter Mi-8T operated by Vityaz-Aero airlines, made a hard landing in Sobolevo District, Kamchatka Territory. The helicopter carrying 22 people aboard, including 19 passengers and 3 crew members, was heading to the village of Nikolayevka, Yelizovo District, Kamchatka Territory. According to preliminary information, one person died.

At present, an investigative team has taken off for the scene to find out the circumstances and causes of the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
