Probe finished against Ukrainian Sergey Litvinov
The Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has finished investigation against resident of Stanitsa Luhanskaya District of Ukraine Sergey Litvinov. He is charged with a crime under part 3 of article 162 of the RF Penal Code (robbery).
According to investigators, in summer 2014, Litvinov conspired with two representatives of security agencies of Ukraine who were carrying out a so-called anti-terrorist operation in the southeast of Ukraine and attacked with a Kalashnikov gun a citizen of the Russian Federation in one of the villages in Stanits Luhanskaya District, Luhansk Region of Ukraine. The attackers stole two cars from the victim and beat him.
Litvinov was also charged with murders of several civilians in the same district while serving in the Dnepr battalion and of using prohibited means and ways of warfare during the armed conflict. At first, the accused confessed to having been involved in the conflict in the southeast of Ukraine, to having served in the Dnepr battalion and having committed a number of murders of civilians and rapes. Later he retracted all of his testimonies.
The investigators have revealed that people named by Litvinov as possible victims of crimes in Luhansk Region had never been registered or lived there. The bodies of people Litvinov named had never been delivered to morgues in Luhansk Region or examined by experts. He had never been called up for military service in Ukraine armed forces or any other military divisions. A number of witnesses, residents of the villages Litvinov named as crime scenes, have been questioned. They said that nobody of the local residents had ever gone missing and no murders had been committed there by representatives of security agencies of Ukraine.
Litvinov underwent a number of complex forensic tests. Psychiatric test showed that he had not suffered and did not suffer from any mental disturbances. So no forced medical treatment is needed to be used against him.
He also had to have a polygraph test. Litvinov’s reactions said that he had not taken part in any actions in the Dnepr battalion or purges in Ukraine and had not killed any civilians.
At the same time, Litvinov’s reactions during the same test show that he had had some contacts with representatives of Ukrainian security agencies, had got uniforms from them, had passed to them some information on citizens of the Russian Federation who had houses and cars in Stanitsa Luhanskaya District of Ukraine.
Taking those circumstances into account, the investigation against Litvinov over murders and use of prohibited means and ways of warfare has been finished, while the investigation into robbery has been sent to court for the indictment to be approved and to be sent further into court.
