Alexander Bastrykin demands impartial investigation in battery of children in some regions of Russia

Today, some of the mass media reported on the cases of battery of children in some regions of Russia. Thereby, Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin ordered the head of the Yalam-Nenets Autonomous Area Investigations Directorate to conduct thorough and impartial investigation in beating (article 116 of the RF Penal Code) by mother of her child near an ATM in one of shops in the town of Labytnangi. The said criminal case was today taken away from the police and will be investigated by the Investigative Committee. In addition, it is being discussed weather to open a criminal investigation in a crime under article 156 of the RF Penal Code (failure to carry out duties of raising a minor). The child was taken from the family following the initiative of the Investigations Directorate. The mother is pending a restraint.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee also required from the head of the Vologda Region Investigations Directorate to take measures to finish and sent to court as soon as possible the criminal case over beating of a 3-year-old girl by her grandmother in one of supermarkets in the town of Cherepovets.
