Maxim Martsinkevich and 9 members of RESTRUKT movement to stand trial for series of felonies

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has finished investigation against Maxim Martsinkevich and 9 members of non-commercial partnership Interregional Association of civil activists for supporting public initiatives and developing important projects Restukt, five of whom were underage at the moment of the crime. Depending on the role of each one in the crime, they are charged with crimes under article 111 of the RF Penal Code (deliberate infliction of grievous bodily harm), article 161 (robbery), article 162 (robbery), article 167 (deliberate destruction or damage of property), article 213 (hooliganism), article 282 (incitement of hatred and enmity as well as disparagement).

According to investigators, in 2013-2014, Mrtsinkevich was one of the leaders and active members of Restrukt movement in Moscow. He and other accused united into groups to commit robberies and hooliganism and other crimes, including acts of extremism. Trying to hide criminal and mercenary aims of their activity and make it look like a socially useful and important, the accused took necessary measures to demonstrate their membership in Restrukt movement and disguise their true intentions. At the same time the accomplices always acted publicly so that their criminal methods would look like legal ones.

During their crimes the accused used knives, metallic clubs, knuckle-dusters, stun guns, tear gas and other objects as weapons.

This way, in 2013-2014, the accomplices committed 8 assaults on citizens, using violence. In one case the victim suffered grievous bodily harm, which later led to his death.

The investigators have enough evidence, so the criminal case with the approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.

At present, the criminal cases against two more members of Restrukt movement are being tried. In addition, there is an ongoing investigation against other people involved in similar crimes. One of them is wanted.
