In St. Petersburg, sentence passed over tourism fraud case

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Saint Petersburg authorities of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict Oleg Alimov. He was found guilty of a crime under Part 4 of Article 159 of the RF Penal Code (fraud).

The court and investigation have revealed that Alimov, Maria Podoprigorova, Irina Zyuskina, Yelena Martynova and Ruslan Myakotin as an organized group, in the period between October and December 2014, acted on behalf of travel agency OOO Sunny Sky Travel purchased in the name of a nominal director, and deceived citizens by concluding agreements on tourist trips on New Year holidays in Southeast Asia, but no trips were organized.

In all, there are 22 victims who suffered damage of more than 1 million 300 thousand rubles.

The court has sentenced Alimov, who concluded a cooperation deal, to 4 years in prison.

The case against Podprigorova and Zyuskina is being tried.

Martynova and Myakotin who are now in Thailand, were arrested in absentia and are wanted.
