Vladimir Markin gets highest Themis Legal Award

The official spokesperson of the Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin has been honored with the oldest Russian Themis Legal Award in the Law and Mass Media nomination. The 20th awarding ceremony was dedicated to two important events: the 70th anniversary of the UN and the 25th anniversary of the Russian Federation.

Receiving the award, Mr. Markin said: “This is a special honor to get this award in the year of its 20th anniversary. I believe that this is the award that is given not only to me, but to the entire team of the Investigative Committee and this is a sign of recognition and transparency of out informational policy and my humble contribution to the consolidation of legal consciousness in the country”.

This year, special guests of the ceremony were permanent representative of Russia to the UN and in its Security Council Vitaly Churkin and 2014 Nobel Prize nominee, Syrian nun and human rights protector, Mother Agnes Mariam el-Salib.

The Themis Legal Award was commissioned in 1996 by the Moscow Club of Lawyers and since 2007 the Association of Lawyers of Russia has been the co-founder. Since 2014, the right to hold the ceremony has been entrusted to the International Legal Initiative Support Foundation.
