In Krasnodar Territory, two local residents charged with negligent death of 7 children killed in fire to stand trial

The Krasnodar Territory authorities of the Investigative Commmittee have finished ah investigation against 36-year-old Svetlana Bastrich and her 52-year-old cohabitor Valery Denisenko, charged with a crime under Part 3 of Article 109 of the RF Penal Code (infliction of death by negligence on two or more persons).

According to investigators, in the evening of 8 Ocrober 2015, the accused left their home located in the village Kholmskaya, Abinsk District, leaving there 7 small children unattended and were away for about three hours. During that period they were sitting in a vehicle on the outskirts of the village, where three of them drank alcohol. The 10-year-old son of the accused called his mother and said that it was cold in the house and the children got cold. The woman told him to light a stove. While the adults were away, the house caught fire and the 7 children aged between 1 and 10 years died.

According to the result of a forensic fire expert examination, the source of the fire was a stove set in one of the rooms.

The investigators made a request to the head of Abinsk District administration to eliminate reasons and conditions that had contributed to the crime related to improper care taken about the family in a complicated life situation.

The investigators have enough evidence so the criminal case with the approved indictment will soon be sent to court to be tried on the merits.
