Baby-sitter of child found dead after fire in northwest of Moscow detained

The Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation in a crime under Part 2 of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder of a child).

According to investigators, in the morning of 29 February 2016, a dead body of a 3-year-old child with traces of violent death was found after a fire in a flat in Narodnogo opolcheniya street in Moscow. According to preliminary information, the child’s baby-sitter, a citizen of a Central Asian country, aged 39, had waited until the parents and the elder child had left the flat and had killed the child for unknown reasons. Then she had set the flat on fire and fled the scene.

At present the suspect has been detained and the investigators are looking into the motive and details of the crime. Considering obvious insane behavior of the suspect, the investigators have immediately sent her for a psychiatric evaluation to see if she is able to realize her actions. The investigation is ongoing.
