Investigators to find out motive of killing 4-year-old girl in Moscow

In connection with reports of some mass media, which are trying to make a big stir from the words of the suspect of killing a 4-year-old girl in Moscow, I have to explain the following.

As a rule a motive of a person long ago diagnosed with schizophrenia does not match the explanation they give after the crime has been committed. Moreover, such people usually commit such crimes during acute conditions, but explain why they did it while in remission. So you can hear from them most fantastic and incredible versions of motives. Some name themselves Napoleons, others Indira Gandhi and so on so forth. I think that the people who should treat the suspect’s words very seriously are only psychiatric specialists.

Of course, the investigator who will be analyzing all the details of the crime will also take the diagnoses into consideration and figure out the true motive. And only then we will announce it. Therefore, I am addressing mass media representatives: do not jump to conclusions and do take care about state of mind of your audience.

Currently, the suspect is under arrest, soon she will be charged and only after that she will undergo a psychiatric examination in Russia as required by the RF Criminal Procedure Code. The investigators have sent a request for legal assistance to Uzbekistan and our colleagues there have already said that they were ready to help in every possible way to collect the data on the suspect.

I would like to assure that the investigation of the crime will be thorough, impartial, all-round and we will announce the results officially, and not using some sources.
