In Moscow Region, man found guilty of killing young woman at carwash

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Moscow Region authority of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict 24-year-old Migran Mirzoyan. He was found guilty of crimes under Part 2, item “j” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder), Part 2, item “b” of Article 131 (rape), Part 2, item “b” of Article 132 (sexual abuse), Part 2 of Article 162 (armed robbery), Part 1 of Article 166 (unlawful occupancy of a car or any other transport vehicle without the purpose of stealing) and Part 1 of Article 226 (stealing of firearms).

The court and investigators have revealed that on 20 November 2014, in the evening, a 25-year-old woman from Moscow was coming back from the town of Lobnya on her car and stopped at a carwash located in Mitishchi District. While waiting for her turn, she was attacked by Mirzoyan, a worker of the carwash. The man sexually abused the woman and then shot her dead in the head. He took her car, but drove only about 300 meters and ran into a garbage can. He abandoned the car and came back to the carwash, put the body into a trolley and took it the woods near the village of Krasnaya Gorka.

Mirzoyan’s two colleagues were also checked on involvement into the crime. The investigator has done a lot of work: about 15 questionings and 10 examinations. Over 10 different forensic inquiries have been run. The evidence has proven that Mirzoyan’s involvement and ruled out complicity of his colleagues.

 The court has sentenced Mirzoyan to 23 years in a maximum-security penal colony and satisfied the action for 2 million rubles of damages.
