Investigators identify men who attacked police station in Stavropol Territory

Three men who attacked today the Novoselitskoye District police station and then blew themselves up have been identified thanks to cooperation between the investigators of the Investigative Committee and operatives of the regional offices of the Interior Ministry and Federal Security Service. They were residents of the settlement of Kitayevskoye, Novoslitskoye District, who had had previous convictions, including for a murder.

According to investigators, on 11 April 2016, at about 10 AM, three unknown men tried to get in an administration building of the Novoselitskoye District Office of the Russian Ministry of the Interior and blasted a few grenades. The police station and the cars parked nearby were damaged by the explosions. Nobody of the local residents or law-enforcement officers were injured.

For quicker and more thorough investigation the case has been passed on to the North Caucasus Federal District Directorate of the Investigative Committee. Vice-Chairman of the Investigative Committee Boris Karnaukhov is coordinating the work of the investigative team on site.
