Probe launched against first vice-chairman of Ivanovo Region Government suspected of grand bribery

The Ivanovo Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation against the First Vice-Chairman of the Ivanovo Region Government Dmitry Kulikov. He is suspected of a crime under Part 6 of Article 290 of the RF Penal Code (taking a bribe on a very large scale).

According to investigators, in 2014, the official got a 5-million ruble bribe from former mayor of the town of Ivanovo Vyacheslav Sverchkov for settling issues related to the circulation of land in the town. The operative support to the investigation was provided by officials of the Ivanovo Region Office of the Federal Security Service.

At the moment Kulikov has been detained. The restraint is expected. Necessary investigative and search operations are underway to find out all the details of the crime and reveal other facts of criminal activity.

Anti-corruption activity is one of the prioritized areas of work of the Investigative Committee. The investigative authorities take measures to make interagency cooperation more efficient for revealing, investigating, solving and preventing acts of corruption.
