In Sebastopol, probe launched into media reports on telephone threats to Zvezda TV company reporter

The Sebastopol Office of the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation into obstruction of the lawful professional activity of journalists by compelling them to refuse to give out information combined with threats of using violence against journalists or their families (Part 3 of Article 144 of the RF Penal Code).

The investigators have revealed that on 10 May 2016, a staff reporter of Zvezda TV company in Crimea got a call on her cell phone from a man from a number starting with Ukraine’s country code. The man threatened to kill the reporter and her family because of her professional activity.

All necessary investigative operations are now underway.
