In Perm Territory, local man suspected of killing his 2-year-old daughter

The dead body of a 2-year-old girl with obvious signs of violent death was found on the evening of 21 May 2016, in a house in the village of Yefremyata, Perm Territory belonging to a local man. The Perm Territory Office of the Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation in a crime under Part 2, item “c” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder of a minor). The girl’s 22-year-old father is suspected of the murder.

According to investigators, the girl’s parents were divorced, but maintained relations. On the morning of 21 May, the woman who worked in a local shop took their daughter to her ex-husband and asked to look after her till the evening and went to work. When in the evening she came back to pick up the child, her ex-husband said that if she would not get back to him, he would kill their daughter. The scared woman went for help to the man’s mother and her own mother, but when the three women had arrived to the man’s house they saw that the girl was dead and the man had gone. Villagers found the man sometime later. He had stabbed himself and had tried to drown himself in a local pond. He was taken to hospital and now he is in stable, but grave condition.

The man is going to be remanded in custody pending trial. The investigators and criminalists of the regional investigative authority are examining the crime scene and are assigning necessary forensic inquiries. They are questioning the witnesses as well. A set of necessary operations are underway to find out all the details of the crime, collect and register the evidence. The investigators are going to find out the reasons that had contributed to the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
