In Moscow, woman held on suspicion of selling baby

The Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee has initiated criminal proceedings against Zarina Sultanova. She is suspected of a crime under Part 2, items “b” and “h” of Article 127.1 of the RF Penal Code (sale of a minor who is knowingly by the guilty person in a helpless state).

According to investigators, Sultanova, 63, lived with a baby for several months, after the baby’s parents had left the baby with the woman and promised to come back some time later. On the afternoon of 25 May 2016, near one of houses in Leninsky avenue in Moscow Sultanova sold the baby to a potential buyer who was a participant of an operative experiment. The suspect was detained after she had received 120 thousand rubles.

The crime was prevented thanks to joint operations of the employees of the Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee and Moscow Directorate of the Interior Ministry.

At the moment the baby is out of danger. Charges and restraint are expected. Investigative operations are underway to find out all the details of the crime. The investigative is ongoing.
