A court has recognized the evidence collected by the Head Office of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict former head of the Ivanovo Region Office of the Ministry of the Interior Aleksandr Nikitin and head of the capital construction and repairs department of the said office Aleksei Sheyenkov. They were found guilty of a crime under Part 3, item “c” of Article 286 of the RF Penal Code (abuse of authority) while Sheyenkov was also convicted of a crime under Part 2 of Article 292 (forgery).

The court and investigators have revealed that Nikitin and Sheyenkov violated since 2013 the requirements of the defense order for the construction of a new building for the regional police authority. Instead of installing the security system, Nikitin ordered that 91 million rubles was spent to repair the general’s personal office and the offices of his assistants. As a result, the new building has not been put into operation still.

The court has sentenced Nikitin to 3 years in a minimum-security correctional facility and has banned him from taking any positions on state service for 1 year, stripped him of his rank of major-general of police and the medal of the 2-class Order for Service to the Fatherland. Sheyenkov got a suspended sentence of 3.5 year and 3 more years of probation and was banned from taking any position on state service for 1 year.
