Karelia investigative authority holds resident of Novosibirsk charged with false report on terrorist attack and arbitrariness

The Karelia Office of the Investigative Committee continues investigating a case opened in a crime under Part 1 of Article 207 of the RF Penal Code (false reporting of a terrorist attack) and Part 2 of Article 330 (arbitrariness).

On 21 April 2016, a man called to a daycare center in the town of Petrozavodsk and introduced himself as the worker of a debt collecting agency. He threatened to blow up the building if one of the employees did not pay the debt. 262 children and 46 employees were evacuated, but the police found no bomb.

The investigative team of the Karelia Office of the Investigative Committee together with operatives of the Karelia Office of the Federal Security Service have identified the worker of the debt collecting agency in the city of Novosibirsk. An investigator left immediately for Novosibirsk, where together with the operatives he held the man and then transported him to Petrozavodsk. Following a request filed by the investigators, the accused was remanded in custody pending trial.

At present, investigative operations are underway to find out all the details of the crime.
