Moscow Labor and Social Protection Department raided under investigation into death of children in Karelia

The Head Office of the Investigative Committee continues the investigation into a crime under Part 3 of Article 238 of the RF Penal Code (provision of services that do not meet safety standards) following death of children after boats capsized on Lake Syamozero in Pryazha District, Karelia.

Along with the details of the tragedy, it is no less important to find out its causes, which we believe lie in the organization of children’s tourism. A set of investigative operations are underway to do that. Namely, investigators have confiscated relevant documents during a search in the Karelia’s Consumer Rights Protection Inspectorate and are now analyzing it in most careful manner. The investigators also conducted a search today at the Labor and Social Protection Department of Moscow. By doing this they are going to check the activity of the officials in charge of organization of children’s holiday and namely to find out how the summer camp had been operated, how the trip had been prepared, the training level of the instructors and other issues.

As all of the drowned children were from Moscow, the identification process is still underway in the capital city. After that forensic medical inquiries will start to find the exact cause of death.

At the moment, the detained managers, instructors and teachers of the camp Vlaery Krupodershchikov, Yelena Reshetova, Vadim Vinogradov and Regina Ivanova are still being questioned. Lyudmila Vasilyev is going to be questioned as soon as she gets better. The restraint for the suspect is expected soon.
