In Belgorod Region, director and staff of summer camp suspected of causing death to child

The Belgorod Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation against director of summer camp at Dobroselskaya school Veliry Nesterenko, two teachers Natalya Smirnova and Natalya Yarosh and school’s headmistress Alla Anpilova. They are suspected of a crime under Part 2 of Article 109 of the RF Penal Code (reckless homicide due to improper discharge of professional duties).

While the tragic events in Karelia where 14 children died after boats capsized on Lake Syamozero in Pryazha District are still fresh in memory, another tragedy happens in Belgorod Region. According to investigators, on 20 June 2016, a group of 20 children aged between 6 and 14 who attended the summer camp accompanied by two teachers arrived to swim in a river in the settlement of Zamostye, Grayvoron District. The beach however was not equipped for children to swim. When the children went out from water the women saw that one of them was missing. They pulled a 10-year-old boy from water, but despite the first aid he died.

At present operations are underway to find out all the details of the incident. Soon the investigator is going to question the suspects, while forensic medical inquiries have already been assigned to find the cause of death. Additionally, the investigators are going to confiscate documents from the school to run them for evidence. The investigators are going to look into the case most carefully and find out the reasons and conditions that contributed to the crime.
