In Yaroslavl Yevgeniy Urlashov and his accomplice found guilty of corruption crimes

Evidence collected by the First Investigative Directorate of the Main Investigative Directorate of Russia’s Investigative Committee were found sufficient by the court to deliver a verdict to a temporary dismissed from his office mayor of Yaroslavl Yevgeniy Urlashov and his advisor Alexey Lopatin. Depending on their roles each was found guilty of crimes under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 6 of Article 290 and Article 291.1 of the RF Penal Code (attempting to receive a bribe, receiving a bribe and intermediary in receiving a bribe).

The probe and the court found that in 2012-2013 accomplices extorted from the director of Radostroy LLC money in amount of 18 million rubles as a bribe in connection with performing works within a municipal contract on maintaining street and road network of the city of Yaroslavl in the first 6 months of 2013. In case of not fulfilling the demands, they threatened on numerous occasions to withhold the money for performing the works within the abovementioned contract. As a result, the director of the mentioned firm was forced in July 2013 to transfer the money in amount of 14 million rubles in the form of a bribe for Mr.Urlashov. After that the intermediary was taken into custody. Moreover, in the same period of time Mr.Urlashov received a bribe in the amount of 17 million rubles out of the total amount of 30 million rubles from the general director of Stroitelnaya Kompaniya Yardorstroy LLC. An illegal gratification was supposed to be a compensation for abuse of office while making decisions on transferring the control block of shares of Gorodskoe dorozhnoe uparvlenie OJSC to Stroitelnaya Kompaniya Yardorstroy LLC.

Previously the court basing on the evidence provided by the probe sentenced one of the accomplices of the corrupt practices, Andrey Zakharov, to 1 year and 10 months in prison and a fine in the amount of 500 thousand rubles.

Mr.Urlashov is sentenced to 12.5 years in high security prison and a fine in the amount of 60 million rubles. Mr. Lopatin is sentenced to 7 years in high security prison.
