Gellandewagon racers case referred to court

The Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee has finished the investigation against Abduvakhob Madzhidov, Ruslan Shamsuarov and Viktor Uskov charged with crimes under Part 1 of Article 318 (threat of violence against representative of the authority) and Article 319 of the RF Penal Code (insult of a representative of authority).

According to investigators, on 22 May 2016, Madzhidov together with Shamsuarov and some unidentified people were driving a Mercedes-Benz car on Leninsky Avenue in the direction of the Moscow Circuit Highway grossly violating the road code. The young people realized that traffic policemen tried to stop them and followed them in a police car with special sings and signals, but still they continued making dangerous moves which posed threat to lives and health of the police officers. They filmed everything what was happening providing their actions with insults and posted the video on the Internet.

By now the investigators have enough evidence so the criminal case with the approved indictment has been referred to court.

The fourth accomplice was identified later in the investigation. It is a 20-year-old resident of Moscow who then was charged in absentia with crimes under Part 1 of Article 318 (threat of violence against representative of the authority) and Article 319 of the RF Penal Code (insult of a representative of authority). The case against him has been severed to form a separate law suit because he is now wanted.

Article 319 of the RF Penal Code bears the maximum punishment of community work for a period of up to a year, while for committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 318 the accused face up to 5 years of jail.
