Residents of Ingushetia to stand trial on charges of child sex abuse

The North Caucasian Federal District Directorate of the Investigative Committee has finished the investigation against residents of Ingushetia: Abukar Polonkoyev, Israil, Dakiyev, Alikhan Nagoyev, Magomed Aushev and Alikhan Ozdoyev in absentia. Depending on the role of each one they are charged with crimes under Part 2 of Article 208 (membership in an illegal armed unit), Part 3, item “a” of Article 111 (deliberate infliction of grievous bodily harm), Part 1 of Article 119 (threat of killing or grievous bodily harm), Part 4, item “a” of Article 132 (sex abuse), Part 4 of Article 135 (molesting), Part 4 of Article 150 of the RF Penal Code (involving minors into crimes).

According to investigators, for two years between 2009 and 2011, the said individuals from the town of Karabulak, Ingushetia, acted as a criminal group, taking advantage of the fact that the 7-year-old boy had not father or other adult family members, threatening him with a gun and beating him, multiple times took him to different houses and flats where raped and abused him for more than 2 years. The boy sustained grievous bodily harm. As a commission of experts has established that the boy suffered from mental disorder, and injuries inflicted on him by his abusers.

On 18 August 2014, the Krasnodar Territory Court found Abukar Polonkoyev guilty of a number of crimes under Part 3, item “b” of Article 132 (sex abuse), Part 1 of Article 119 of the RF Penal Colony (threat of killing or grievous bodily harm) committed against the same boy and sentenced him to 16 years in a maximum-security correctional facility.

Following the request of the investigators, the court has ruled to put all the accused in custody pending trial.

The investigators have enough evidence, so the criminal case with the approved indictment has been referred to court.
