In Sverdlovsk Region, probe launched into incident in water park where girl almost drowned

On the evening of 28 August 2016, an incident happened in a water park in Shcherbakova Street in the city of Yekaterinburg during which a girl almost drowned, but luckily was pulled from water and then taken to a hospital.

The Sverdlovsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation into a crime under Part 2, item “c” of Article 238 of the RF Penal Code (provision of services that do not meet safety standards and entailed grievous bodily harm by negligence).

All necessary investigative operations will be carried out to find out all the details of the incident and to identify those responsible for that. A forensic medical inquiry will be run to determine the exact damage done to the girl’s health.

The investigators are requesting and analyzing safety regulations, identifying the employees of the water park in charge of safety. The investigators are also going to give an impartial and fundamental legal assessment to the situation which endangered the life and health of the small girl.

The senior officials of the regional office of the Investigative Committee have assumed personal control over the investigation.
