In Sakha (Yakutia), probe finished into traffic accident that left child dead and several people injured

The Sakha (Yakutia) Office of the Investigative Committee has finished the criminal investigation against a 28-year-old resident of the city of Yakutsk, charged with violation of traffic code and operation of a vehicle that entailed death of a person by negligence (Part 3 of Article 264 of the RF Penal Code).

According to investigators, on 22 April, at about 4:30 PM, a driver of Toyota Grand Hiace crossed a crossroads in Yakutsk on a great speed when the traffic lights were red. Trying to avoid collision with another car, the driver swerved to a pavement and ran over 5 pedestrians on a bus stop. A 12-year-old child died at the scene before doctors arrived. Two women aged 20 and 31 and two men aged 26 and 30 were taken to hospitals with different injuries.

Investigators have enough evidence so the criminal case with the approved indictment has been referred to court.
