In Bryansk Region, former deputy head of municipality to stand trial for grand fraud

The Bryansk Region Office of the Investigative Committee has finished the investigation against former deputy head of Suzemka District administration Sergei Vashchilin. He is charged with a crime under Part 4 of Article 159 of the RF Penal Code (fraud on a very large scale).

According to investigators, in March 2014, Vashchilin was appointed as the deputy head of the municipality. Despite the ban of combining municipal service with business, he did not resigned from the position of the head of a farm. Moreover, as the head of the farm he filed documents to get a grant under a state agricultural development program, where he had put false information that the farm was the only place of work he had. As a result, in June 2014, more than 2.8 million rubles was transferred to Vashchilin’s bank account that was to be spent for the development of the farm for the next year and a half. However, the accused shut down the farm in October 2014 and spent the stolen money as he pleased.

In order to guarantee that the damage done by the crime will be reimbursed, investigators have arrested the man’s property, which include 3 plots of land, 3 cars, 4 tractors and a tractor trailer.

The investigators have enough evidence, so the criminal case with the approved indictment will be referred to court.
