Probe launched against officer of Ukraine’s military agency suspected of using banned ways and methods of warfare

The Investigative Committee’s Head Office has opened a criminal investigation against an officer of the Ukraine’s military agency Igor Ritsko and other unidentified people suspected of a crime under Part 1 of Article 356 of the RF Penal Code (use of prohibited ways and methods of warfare).

According to investigators, Ritsko and other unidentified yet officers of Ukraine’s military agencies violated international legal acts that guarantee observance and protection of rights of civilians, including minors during armed conflicts and in May 2015, involved underage residents of the town of Yasinuvata in major crimes by promising material reward, blackmailing and using threats. It has been revealed, that from May 2015 to June 2016, a group of 7 teenagers directed by Ritsko carried out 8 blasts in civil and military infrastructure in the town of Yasinuvata located in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic.

At present investigative and search operations are underway to find out all the details of the crime and to identify all those involved in it. The investigation is ongoing.
