In Nizhny Novgorod Region, probe launched in death of family of three, including child in fire

The Nizhny Novgorod Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in a crime under Part 3 of Article 109 of the RF Penal Code (infliction of death to two or more people by negligence) after a family of three, including a small child, died in a fire.

According to investigators, on the night of 14 September 2016, a two-storey brick house caught fire in Khalzovskaya Street, Somorvsky District. Firefighters of the regional office of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Ministry put the fire out and found dead bodies of three people: a 40-year-old woman, a 54-year-old man and their 4-year-old son. Investigators have examined the fire scene and saw that the burnt home had electric supply. Forensic medical inquiries have been assigned to find out cause of death and a fire inquiry is underway to find out the source and circumstances of the fire.

Urgent investigative operations are underway at the moment. Casual handling is being considered as one of the versions of the incident. According to preliminary information, the family was not a problem one. The investigation is ongoing.
