The fourth department of the Head Office of the Investigative Committee (based in the city of Yekaterinburg) has pressed charges against deputy head of the department for tax crimes in construction and transport under the economic security and corruption office of the Interior Ministry’s Sverdlovsk Region Directorate Maksim Kasatkin and Eduard Krayev with crimes under Part 6 of Article 290 and Part 4 of Article 291.1 of the RF Penal Code (taking a bribe on a very large scale; mediation of bribery) depending on the role of each one of them.

Investigators together with operatives of the Sverdlovsk Region Office of the Federal Security Service have searched the tax crime department.

According to investigators, from July to 11 August 2016, the suspects conspired so that Kasatkin got a 2 million rubles bribe with Krayev as a middleman by extorting it from CEO of a company. The bribe was intended to pay for Kasatkin’s assistance in stopping officers of the Interior Ministry’s Sverdlovsk Region Directorate from inspecting the company.

At present, investigative operations are underway to find out all the details of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
