A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Perm Territory Office of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict a 46-year-old ex-con from Lysva, his 44-year-old wife and his 18-year-old step daughter. The man was found guilty of 30 counts of a crime under Part 4, item “b” of Article 132 (sexual abuse of child under 14 years of age) and crimes under Part 2, items “d” and “e” of Article 117 (torture of a minor), Part 2, item “e” of Article 127 (illegal deprivation of liberty of a person, not related to their kidnapping, committed against an obvious juvenile), Part 2, items “c”, “e” and “j” of Article 105 (murder committed with heightened cruelty and accompanied by rape or violent sexual actions), Article 156 of the RF Penal Code (failure to discharge the duties of bringing up a minor).

The man’s wife and her daughter were found guilty of 4 counts of a crime under Part 2, items “a” and “e’ of Article 127 (illegal deprivation of liberty of a person, not related to their kidnapping) and crimes under Part 2, items “d”, “e” and “f” of Article 117 (torture of an obvious juvenile) and Article 316 of the RF Penal Code (concealment of major crimes).

The court and investigators have revealed that from August 2014 to January 2016, the man sexually abused his 10-year-old son, treated him cruelly, did not let him go outside or play with other children, forbade going to school, locked him up in a closet or the cold basement of their house without warm clothes for several days. Additionally, he did not give his son water, food or sleep for long periods of time, inflicting by this most cruel mental tortures.

In early January 2016, the man hit the boy’s head on wooden doors of a wardrobe and a fragment of a wooden plank. He then threw the unconscious boy into the basement, where he died on 14 January 2016. To hide his crimes the man asked his step-daughter to help him and two of them took the body to Lysva town pond, tied a weight to the body and drowned under the ice. He then went to the police and reported his son missing.

The boy’s murder was solved on 21 January 2016 thanks to coherent work of Investigative Committee investigators and police officers. They found out that the man’s wife and her daughter were also involved in crimes. They had locked him up in the basement and beat him. In addition, the 18-year-old girl perfectly aware that her step-father had killed the boy, helped him to get rid of the body and traces of the crime.

To find out all the details of the crimes, the investigators have done a lot of work. They have questioned more than 50 witnesses, run 11 forensic inquiries. The number of case files has reached 8 volumes.

The investigators have filed requests with government bodies in order to eliminate all the reasons and conditions that had made the crimes possible to have been committed. Following consideration of the said requests the head of the juvenile office of the local police department and 5 workers of different hospitals who though aware of violent injuries had not reported it to the police because they had believed the parents who said that the boy had injured himself by falling.

The court has sentenced the man to life in a special-security penal facility, his wife to 5 years in a minimum-security correctional facility suspended until her second daughter is 14 years of age, while her first daughter has gotten a suspended sentence of 6 years in prison.
