In Moscow, searches ongoing in public institution in bribery investigation

The Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation into crimes under Part 6 of Article 290 (taking a bribe) and Part 5 of Article 291 of the RF Penal Code (giving a bribe).

According to investigators, officials of the territorial branch of the Central Office for State Traffic Surveillance (hereinafter UGADN) took a bribe for general patronage of companies providing transport services in the city of Moscow and other regions of Russia. For award the officials of UGADN informed the staff of the companies about oncoming inspections and did not give them administrative punishment for violations. The total sum of cash bribes is at least 1.15 million rubles and investigators are working to find out other similar crimes committed by the same people.

Today, the investigators are carrying out searches in more than 27 buildings, including the territorial branch of UGADN.

They are looking into all details of the crimes and are also carrying out investigative and search operations in order to detain the individuals involved. The investigation is ongoing.
