In Moscow, investigators looking for involved and other crimes in probe against Rostransnadzor officials

The Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee is investigating a case over crimes under Part 6 of Article 290 (taking a bribe) and Part 5 of Article 291 of the RF Penal Code (giving a bribe).

Head of the Moscow Region Office for State Traffic Oversight of the Federal Transport Oversight Service Igor Surzhik and inspector of the metropolitan branch Artyom Vysotsky have been detained on suspicion of the crime. Charges and restraint are expected soon.   

According to investigators, officials of the territorial branch of the Central Office for State Traffic Oversight (hereinafter UGADN) took a bribe for general patronage of companies providing transport services in the city of Moscow and other regions of Russia. For award the officials of UGADN informed the staff of the companies about oncoming inspections and did not give them administrative punishment for violations. The total sum of cash bribes is at least 1.15 million rubles and investigators are working to find out other similar crimes committed by the same people.

In the first 24 hours after the investigation had been opened, investigators questioned more than 30 people, including UGADN employees and representatives of different commercial organizations. Some of them are still being checked for having been involved in the crimes. The investigators have searched more than 30 buildings, including the territorial branch of UGADN, where they have confiscated objects and documents relevant for the investigation. A number of forensic inquiries are going to be assigned soon.

The investigators continue to question officials and to carry out other investigative operations to identify all the people involved and reveal other crimes. The investigation is ongoing.
