In Tambov Region, four local residents to stand trial for brutal murder of couple and other crimes

The Tambov Region Office of the Investigative Committee has finished the investigation against four residents of Znamenka and Tambov Districts aged between 27 and 29 years. They are charged with crimes under Part 2, items “a” and “b” of Article 132 (sexual abuse), Part 2, items “a”, “e”, “f”, “g” and “j” of Article 105 (murder), Part 2 of Article 167 (deliberate destruction of other people’s property) and Part 2 of Article 330 of the RF Penal Code (arbitrariness).

According to investigators, on the night of 22 August 2014, the accused were drinking alcohol in the settlement of Sukhotinka, Znamenka District in the house owned by civil wife of one of the accused. During a conversation the man supposed that one of local residents had stolen from his wife a petrol-powered saw and a car radio and suggested that his cronies went to his house and took back the stolen things.

When they got to his house they beat the 41-year-old man and then used bare wires to electrify him. Then the accused searched the house and found in one of the rooms the 31-year-old girlfriend of the house owner. They first beat her and then took turns in raping. Realizing that she was an unwanted witness of their crimes they hit her several times on the head with a TV set.

When the two victims got unconscious the accused poured their bodies, floors and furniture with petrol from the petrol-powered saw they had found and set fire. The accused waited until the flat burned, then they fled the scene, burned their clothes and continued drinking.

The victims died in the fire, which damaged and destroyed their furniture and other belongings. The cost of repairs needed to their flat and the neighboring one is more than 650,000 rubles.

Before that the accused had already been convicted of different crimes, mostly the ones against property.

The investigators have enough evidence so the criminal case with the signed indictment has been referred to court.
