The Karelia Office of the Investigative Committee continues the investigation into a crime under Part 2, item “a” of Article 238 of the RF Penal Code (provision of services that do not meet safety standards) and Part 1 of Article 236 (violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules).

As became known earlier, in October 2016, drinking water supplied to houses in Medvezhyegorsk did not comply with hygiene norms in microbiological indicators and residual chlorine.

Investigators are going to check all the arguments provided by the population about the lack of sewage disposal plants, dumping of discharge water and taking “pure” water for the town.  In addition, they are going to find out the reasons why the quality of water does not meet hygiene requirements. The investigation is ongoing.
