The Saint Petersburg office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in a crime under Part 2, item “b” of Article 111 of the RF Penal Code (deliberate infliction of grievous bodily harm).

The investigators have detained a 32-year-old local resident. According to investigators, on the night of 11 November 2016, while in a flat in Kalininsky District, the suspect added some acetic acid into baby’s food to feed the 5-month-old son of his stepbrother with whom he had a conflict. On the morning of 11 November 2016, the baby was taken to a hospital in grave condition and is now in the intensive care department.

The suspect will soon be arrested and charged. The investigation is ongoing.
