A traffic accident involving a taxi and injuring more than 8 people happened on the evening of 13 November 2016 in southeastern Moscow. The Moscow Office of the Investigative Committee has launched a preliminary check.

According to preliminary information, a 30-year-old taxi driver with three passengers in his vehicle was driving to downtown on Entuziastov Highway when he lost control of the car and ran down a tram stop with people standing at it.

Both those standing at the stop and taxi passengers were injured and were taken to hospitals.

At the present moment, investigators are examining the scene.

The check will show if there are signs of a crime under Article 238 of the RF Penal Code (execution of work or provision of services that do not meet safety standards). Legal assessment will be given to the actions of officials responsible for the quality of passenger transporting services. A procedural decision will be made following the check.
