On 14 November 2016, investigative authorities got a report that police vehicle was gunned when officers had approached a house in the settlement of Strugi Krasnoye looking for a missing teenager. The Pskov Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in a crime under Article 317 of the RF Penal Code (attempt on the life of a law-enforcement official).

Investigators set off for the scene immediately. They established that two armed 15-year-olds were barricaded inside the house. The agents carried on negotiations with them for several hours, but to no avail. Sometime later the teenagers stopped coming into contact. When special force teams used stun grenades and stormed the house, they found the two teenagers dead with bullet holes in their bodies. Both of them were identified and their parents are now being interviewed.

At present, the investigators are examining the scene and the surrounding area. Forensic medical and posthumous psychiatric examinations have been assigned. A toxicology screen is also being run to find if there is alcohol or drugs in blood of the teenagers. Investigators will by all means check their living conditions and the conditions that had triggered them to commit such a crime.
