Following Alexander Bastrykin order, experienced investigators of Central office join probe into death of two teenagers in Pskov Region

Following an order of the Investigative Committee’s Chairman Alexander Bastrykin, experienced investigators of the Committee’s Central Office have been sent to Pskov Region to provide guidance and practical aid in the investigation of the death of teenagers and to carry out other urgent investigative operations.

The day before, two 15-year-olds barricaded themselves inside a cottage in the settlement of Strugi Krasnye and opened fire at police officers who arrived searching for one of them. The police attempted to negotiate with them for several hours, but to no avail. When they stopped responding, the house was stormed by special forces teams who found both teenagers dead with gunshot wounds.

Investigators and criminalists of the regional investigative authority arrived at the scene immediately to examine carefully the crime scene and the surrounding area. They seized objects relevant for the investigation, including the guns from which the teenagers had shot at the police and ammunition.

The initial investigative operations conducted give the investigators grounds to believe that after they had stopped responding, the 15-year-old boy first killed his girlfriend and then committed suicide.

At present, the investigators are studying traces the teenagers had left in different social networks, including the video their livestreamed during the standoff. They are also identifying those with whom the teenagers had corresponded with before and at the moment of suicide and looking for the couple’s friends and classmates. Documents relevant for the investigation have been confiscated from their school. It is known that the boy had got in sight of the police in May 2016 when the school administration had complained about his behavior in school, systematic absence on classes and bad marks. The investigation is ongoing.
