In Perm, local resident gets life for major crimes committed against child

A court has recognized the evidence collected by the Perm Territory Office of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict 31-year-old resident of the town of Berezniki Konstantin Rudometkin. He was found guilty of crimes under Part 4, item “b” of Article 132 9sexual assault of a person under 14 years of age) and Part 2, items “c” and “j” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code (rape-related murder of a child).

The court and investigators have revealed, that on the morning of 5 December 2015, the accused offered to give a lift to school to a 9-year-old daughter of his ex-girlfriend and took her to a garage in the town of Berezniki. There he raped her and then strangled. He took the body to the ouskirds of the town and dumped it and then took off.

The investigators questioned 57 witnesses, ran 6 forensic inquiries, including psychiatric evaluation of the accused at the Healthcare and Social Development Ministry’s V.P. Serbsky Social and Forensic Psychiatry Research Center, carried out 7 examinations of the crime scene, 3 seizures, 10 examinations of objects and checked the testimony of the accused on site. In addition, the investigators filed requests with the juvenile office of the local police department and the juvenile commission of the district administration to eliminate conditions that had made the crime possible.

The court has sentenced Rudometkin to life imprisonment to be served in a special-security correctional facility as well as to be watched over and treated by a psychiatrist.
