Three men aged 39, 35 and 30 died of acute poisoning in a hospital in the town of Kuznetsk, Penza Region on 21 November 2016. The Penza Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in storage and selling of unsafe goods and products entailing death of two or more people under part 3 of Article 238 of the RF Penal Code.

According to preliminary information, the victims were present among other guests at a birthday party in a café on 20 November 2016. During the party they drank different alcohol. On the night of 21 November, the men present in the café felt unwell and 11 of them were taken to a hospital, however the three men died of acute poisoning despite all efforts made by doctors.

Necessary investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the incident. Investigators have searched the café and confiscated alcohol from there. Forensic medical and chemical inquiries have been assigned to find out the exact cause of victims’ death. The investigation is ongoing.
