In St. Petersburg, man charged with banditry and series of major crimes to stand trial

The Saint Petersburg Office of the Investigative Committee has finished criminal proceedings against Vladislav Parushenkov, charged with crimes under Part 2 of Article 209, Part 4, item “a” of Article 162, part 1 of Article 30, Part 4, items “a” and “b” of Article 162, Article 317, Part 3 of Article 222 of the RF Penal Code (banditry, robbery and plotting robbery, attempt on the life of a law-enforcer, illegal circulation of firearms).

According to investigators, no later than in August 2009, Mikhail Batashev and Vladislav Vorozhtsov created a gang in the city of Saint Petersburg and involved Parushenkov, Irina Danilova, Dmitry Sidorov, Boris Makedon, Yekaterina Romanova, Dmitry Pritula and roman Filatov. The gang was armed with pistols, a revolver, a sawn-off hunting rifle, knifes, which they actively used in attacks and self-defense. From December 2009 to August 2010, members of the gang committed 9 robberies of people and illegal gambling clubs taking from them more than 2 million 500 thousand rubles. They plotted to more robberies. On 4 August 2010, while preparing to rob a gambling club in Krasnogvardeisky District, Vorozhtsov, Batashev and Parushnikov committed an attempt on the lives of two police officers of the Krasnogvardeisky District Police Precinct. They killed on of them and badly wounded the otherone. Batashev stole from them two MP pistols.

Vorozhtsov got 21.5 years in prison, Batashev 17 years, Sidorov 11 years, Pritula 13 years, Filatov 14 years, Makedon 11 years. All of them are going to serve their time in a maximum-security correctional facility. Danilova and Romanov got suspended sentenced of 3 and 2 years. In addition, Vorozhtsov is to pay 1 million rubles to each injured party.

Parushnikov was wanted from 2010 to June 2016.

The investigators have enough evidence so the criminal case has been referred to court.
