Trial starts over embezzlement of over 368 million rubles of Khrunichev state space science and production center

Dorogomilovo Court of Moscow has started today hearing the case over embezzlement of more than 368 million rubles of the M.V. Khrunichev State Space Science and Production Center investigated at the Investigative Committee’s major Cases Directorate. The people in the dock are former heads of the Center Vladimir Nesterov, Mikhail Yakushin and CEO of ZAO Ekopravo, a close corporation, Dmitry Dyakonov. Depending on the role of each one of them, they are charged with crimes under Part 4 of Article 160 (embezzlement committed by an organized group on a very large scale), Part 3 of Article 33 and Part 2 of Article 327 of the RF Penal Code (forgery of an official document committed to conceal another crime and facilitate the perpetration and organization of the said crime).

According to investigators, in 2007, CEO of the Center Vladimir Nesterov set up and organized group involving his subordinates: the Deputy Economics Director Alexander Ostroverkh (convicted of the said crimes), chief accountant Mikhail Yakushin and Head of ZAO Ekopravo Dmitry Dyakonov who had been providing auditing and advisory services to the Center for several years. During a period of time between 2007 and 2014, Nesterov, Ostroverkh and Yakushin used their positions to embezzle more than 368 million rubles owned by the Center in the interests of the auditing company. To disguise the crime the state enterprise and Ekopravo signed a fictitious contract for advisory services under which payment was affected based on forged documents.

Following a request of investigators a court arrested funds, shares, expensive cars, a flat and other property of the accused worth over 127 million rubles.
