In Sebastopol, kidnapping suspects arrested

The Sebastopol Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in an abduction of a person committed by a group of people in conspiracy out of mercenary motives and using violence under Part 2, items “a”, “c” and “h” of Article 126 of the RF Penal Code.

Investigative have established that in December 2016, four men forced a 36-year-old local resident to sit into a car in Admiral Makarov Street and took him to a flat in Oktyabrskoi Revolyutsii Street. They handcuffed him to a radiator and beat him up for 11 days demanding 1 million rubles.

During investigative and search operations the investigators together with agents of the Sebastopol police department have managed to identify the suspects and locate the kidnapped who then was released by agents of OMON Berkut of the Sebastopol Rosgvardia’s Office (Russian Guard). The four men aged between 24 and 39 are now in custody.

The investigators have also found out that the kidnapping was organized by the victim’s wife who is now under house arrest. The victim has told the investigators that it was not the first attempt to kidnap him, but he had not reported previous attempts to the police.

At present a set of investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
