In Altai Territory, businessman charged with unsafe services after passengers get injured in two-bus road accident

The Altai Territory Office of the Investigative Committee has charged a businessman engaged in intercity passenger transportation with execution of work or provision of services that do not meet safety standards and entailed death of two or more people by negligence under Part 3 of Article 238 of the RF Penal Code.

According to investigators, the businessman engaged in regular transportation of passengers between Biysk and Novosibirsk violated labor code and passenger transportation safety code, grossly violated the coach drivers schedule failing to put on the route the second driver. On the evening of 4 January 2017, driver of a Higer KLQ6826Q coach was providing transportation serves on behalf of the accused. The man, overtired from having been driving for 12 hours, took the wrong track on R256 Chuisky highway near the settlement of Ukrainsky, Kosikha Districts and collided with a GAZ-172413 vehicle and a LAZ 695 N bus at kilometer mark 235.

Because of unsafe services provided by the businessman, 3 passengers were killed in the collision, another 29 were injured.

The businessman was detained today and is now expecting a restraint.

At present investigative and procedural operations are underway to collect and document evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
