Investigative Committee investigating shelling of Russian journalists in Donbass

According to investigators, several Russian journalists, including stringer of Russia Today, reporters of NTV, Lifenews and other media were shelled today by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kiyevsky District of Donetsk. The reporters were on missions from their news outlets. After several shells exploded, they decided to leave the dangerous area and were headed for a shelter while the area was still under bombardment.

The Investigative Committee is looking into all the circumstances surrounding the shelling as part of a probe into the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare. The investigators are going to check if the motive for shelling journalists was that Ukrainian authorities do not want mass media to give impartial coverage of the events that are taking place in Donbass.

The incident confirms once more that Ukrainian military servants keep on deliberately and regularly violating Minsk accords and international laws (the Minsk Protocol and its Memorandum, the Geneva Convention relative to the protection of Vicilan Persons in time of War and its Protocol Additional).

Investigation into all facts of using banned means and methods of warfare is ongoing.
