Tomsk Region investigative authority takes over case over beating of teen by man

The Head of the Tomsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee has requested that the investigation in beating of a 13-year-oldboy by a man in the town of Tomsk be passed over to the regional investigative authority from the police. The investigation was opened in deliberate cause of mild bodily harm under Part 1 of Article 115 of the RF Penal Code.

According to investigators, on the afternoon of 4 February 2017, a man walking with his small daughter near a block of flats in Oktyabrsky District of Tomsk caused bodily harm to the teenager, who appeared to have pushed his daughter while sliding from an ice slide. The teenager was taken to the traumatology of emergency medical aid hospital No 2 and is still there. The man’s actions drew a wide response in the public.

Considering that protection of rights and legal interests of children is a priority for the Investigative Committee, the prosecutor has withdrawn the case from the regional police department and passed it on to the Tomsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee for further investigation.

At present, investigators are conducting primary operations to find out all the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
